Rediscover what you’ve read
Readwise collects highlights from books, articles and more. Its daily review brings them back, but only if you open it. Startwerk shows a highlight from that review on your new tab, the same one all day, and links straight to your daily review.
Startwerk only reads from Readwise and never changes anything there. Your access token is stored on your device only, and it’s deleted automatically when you remove the widget.
What the Readwise widget does
Book and author
Each highlight shows where it’s from, linked to the highlight in Readwise.
Read-only
Startwerk doesn’t write to Readwise or mark your review as done.
Token stays local
Not synced, and deleted when you remove the widget.
Connect Readwise
Get your token
Copy your access token from readwise.io/access_token.
Add the widget
In Startwerk, click Edit, then + Widget, and choose Readwise Highlight.
Paste and allow
Paste the token. Chrome asks once for access to readwise.io.
Questions and answers
Do I need a Readwise account?
Yes. The widget shows highlights from your own Readwise account.
Is this an official Readwise app?
No. Startwerk is an independent product and isn’t affiliated with Readwise.
What happens to my token if I remove the widget?
It’s deleted from your device automatically, together with today’s highlight.
