Notes for Chrome, right on your new tab.

A to-do list, a phone number, an idea for later: write it down where you’ll see it again. Startwerk’s note sits on your new tab, saves itself as you type and keeps simple formatting.

A notepad you can’t lose

Sticky notes on the monitor fall off, and note apps hide behind a click. A note on your new tab is simply there: click it to write, click outside to save. If you stop typing, a draft is saved after two seconds.

Formatting is kept light on purpose: bold and italic, a heading, bullet and numbered lists, and links that open in a new tab. Enough to structure a list, not enough to get lost in.

What the note widget does

Simple formatting

**bold**, *italic*, # heading, lists and [links](https://…), written as plain text.

Saves itself

Ctrl+Enter or a click outside saves. Esc discards your changes.

As many notes as you need

Add one per topic or per Space, in any size.

Syncs if you want

With Chrome Sync on, your notes follow you to your other computers.

Write your first note

  1. Install Startwerk

Add Startwerk to Chrome and open a new tab. A note is already on the page.

  2. Click and type

Click the note to edit it right there.

  3. Add more notes

Under + Widget → Time & planning, add another note for another topic.

Questions and answers

Are my notes private?
Yes. They’re stored in your browser and, if Chrome Sync is on, in your own Google account. Startwerk has no server.
Can I tick off checklist items?
Checkboxes written as - [ ] and - [x] are shown, but they can’t be clicked yet.
Can I add images?
No. The note is for text, lists and links.
