Why people look for an alternative

Momentum is a popular new tab extension for Chrome. Some of its features, however, are paid (Plus features). That’s a fair model, and it’s not the only one.

Startwerk takes a different route: everything is free, nothing needs an account, and your data stays in your browser. It is funded by a few clearly labelled partner recommendations, which you can dismiss or remove.

What makes Startwerk different

Spaces, not just one page

Keep work and free time apart. Each Space has its own bookmarks and widgets, and Startwerk can switch to your work Space during working hours.

Private by design

There is no Startwerk server. Your bookmarks, notes and settings stay in your browser and sync only through your own Chrome account.

Built for daily use

Bookmarks, calendar and feeds sit right where you start, so the page you open fifty times a day saves you clicks instead of just looking nice.

Made in Germany

Developed by Vantica UG near Bonn. Weather data comes from Deutscher Wetterdienst, and the privacy policy is written in plain language.
