An RSS reader for Chrome, right on your new tab.

Follow the sites you care about without an app or an algorithm. Startwerk shows the latest headlines from any RSS or Atom feed on your new tab, and opens the article in a new tab when you click.

The news you chose, not the news you’re fed

RSS has been around for decades because it works: a site publishes its newest articles, and your reader collects them. Startwerk uses that same open standard. Paste the address of a blog or news site, and Startwerk finds its feed for you.

Each feed gets its own card with up to 12 headlines. Feeds update when you open a new tab and every 30 minutes in the background, as long as you used Startwerk in the last day.

What the RSS widget does

RSS and Atom

Works with both formats. Enter a feed URL or simply the website’s address.

As many feeds as you like

Add one widget per feed and arrange them across your Spaces.

Offline-friendly

Headlines are cached, so the card shows the last update even without a connection.

Asks for one site only

Chrome asks for access to the feed’s site and nothing else. You can revoke it any time.

Add a feed

  1. Add the RSS widget

In Startwerk, click Edit, then + Widget, and choose RSS feed.

  2. Paste an address

Paste a feed URL or the website’s address. The name is detected automatically.

  3. Allow access

Chrome asks once for access to that site. The headlines appear right away.

Questions and answers

Do I need a feed reader account?
No. Startwerk reads the feed directly in your browser. There’s no account and no server in between.
Which sites have a feed?
Most blogs, news sites and podcasts. If a site has no feed, Startwerk tells you so.
Can I read full articles in Startwerk?
Startwerk shows headlines. A click opens the article on the original site in a new tab.
