Your own photos on Chrome’s new tab.

The people and places you like, every time you open a tab. Add up to ten of your own photos to Startwerk, and they take turns on your new tab, with a soft crossfade every ten minutes.

A little bit of home in your browser

Stock wallpapers are nice, but your own pictures mean more. Drag photos onto the widget or choose them from your computer. Startwerk shrinks them to a sensible size and keeps them on your device.

The rotation is shared by all your tabs, so opening a new tab doesn’t change the picture you were just looking at. Every photo comes up once per round, never the same one twice in a row.

What the photo widget does

Up to ten photos

Choose them or drag them in. Startwerk tells you when the limit is reached.

Changes every ten minutes

A gentle crossfade, in random order, without repeats in a row.

Stays on your device

Photos are not synced through Chrome Sync and never leave your computer.

Or as your background

In Settings, set one photo as the background of the whole page. Text colours adjust to it.

Add your photos

  1. Add the photo widget

In Startwerk, click Edit, then + Widget, and choose Photos.

  2. Choose your pictures

Click “Choose photos” or drag up to ten images onto the widget.

  3. Size it

Drag the corner to give the widget the space your pictures deserve.

Questions and answers

Do my photos sync to my other computers?
No. Photos stay on the device where you added them, so they don’t fill up your Chrome Sync storage.
Can I change how often the photo changes?
Not at the moment. The photo changes every ten minutes.
Can I use a photo as the whole background?
Yes. In Settings → Appearance → Background, choose Photo.
