A workday progress bar for Chrome’s new tab.

“1 h 11 min left in your workday.” Startwerk shows a slim progress bar under the clock that fills as your workday goes by, and after hours it can switch your new tab to your free-time Space.

A gentle sense of time

Set your working hours and days once. Before work, the bar says when your day starts; during work, how much time is left; afterwards, “Off hours”. That’s often enough to decide whether to start something new or wrap up.

Together with Spaces, the workday does more: choose a Space for working hours and one for off hours, and your new tab follows your day by itself.

What the workday bar does

Your hours, your days

From and to, plus the days you work. The default is 9:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday.

Three heights, any colour

Slim, regular or bold, in the accent colour, a preset or your own.

Time left, in words

“1 h 11 min left in your workday”, or only the bar if you prefer.

Switches Spaces after work

Pick a Space for off hours, and Startwerk opens it after work.

Set your workday

Add Startwerk to Chrome and open a new tab. The workday bar sits under the clock.

  2. Enter your hours

  3. Choose Spaces, if you like

In the same place, choose default Spaces for working hours and off hours.

Questions and answers

Can I set a lunch break?
Not yet. There is one time range per day.
Can I hide the bar?
Yes. Remove it in edit mode; it can be added back any time.
Does it work for night shifts?
The workday is set as one range within a day, so shifts that cross midnight aren’t supported yet.
